Coming up on your left /right is the Auckland Museum and War Memorial. This was the first museum in New Zealand and was established in 1852. The collections include Maori and Pacific history but also social and military history. The museum is also a war memorial dedicated to the 12 000 soldiers and citizens from Auckland who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars. In front of the museum stands a monument which is a site of remembrance observed on Anzac Day each year.
