You are approaching the turnoff to Atiu Creek Regional Park and Port Albert. The Atiu Creek Regional Park was given to Auckland Regional Council as a gift by Jackie and Pierre Chatelanat to ensure that all Kiwi’s would have access to the Kaipara Harbour and its heritage would be preserved. In April 2008 the park opened housing seventeen historic places as well as a fascinating abandoned nineteenth century oyster farm. Nearby the park is Port Albert, once the centre for a non-conformist church settlement which was set up in the 1860’s
