You are approaching the turnoff of Muriwai Beach & Gannet Colony. This west coast beach is one of Auckland’s most popular beaches and totals 60km’s of coast and black sand dunes. Muriwai Regional Park stretches from Maori Bay in the south to Muriwai Beach. The park also includes Takapu, one of the three mainland gannet colonies in the country. The best time to visit the gannets is between October and February
