You are now entering the Franklin District of New Zealand’s North Island. Pukekohe is Franklin’s main town along with Waiuku and Tuakau. Franklin is still very rural but the locals are very proud of the country feel that the district has. There are lots of recreational activities that are available in Franklin. Pukehohe has a Council owned recreation center with a gym and indoor heated swimming pool along with outdoor pools around the district. The district also has a beautiful coast on both sides including the black sand beach of Karioitahi, and the beaches of Port Waikato and the Awhitu Peninsula.
