You are approaching Akaroa wharf. The quay is mainly used as the departure point for cruises around Akaroa Harbour. Visitors can join a ‘swimming with dolphins’ cruise and try to spot the smallest dolphin in the world, the Hector’s dolphin. Most cruises visit “Scenery Nook” – an amphitheatre made up of pink and red volcanic rock that is said to be millions of years old.
