You are now approaching Cathedral Square. Known as the centre of Christchurch, it is surrounded by Worcester Boulevard, Colombo Street and the Avon River. Visit the Anglican Cathedral and for a small donation, you can climb 133 steps of the Cathedral’s North Tower. The Square is home to public art pieces and the statue of John Robert Godley, the founder of Christchurch. From the Square, visitors can catch a tram from Cathedral Junction on a loop tour of the city’s best attractions. South Encounter Aquarium, the Kiwi House and the I-Site Visitor Information Centre are also located in the Square.
