You are approaching the Cathedral of The Blessed Sacrament, also known as the Christchurch Basilica. Designed by Francis Petre, the revered Renaissance style building is acclaimed for its beauty all over New Zealand and is regarded as the most spectacular of all Petre’s designs. Some design features of the building include an Italiante green copper-roofed dome directly above the sanctuary and a high set alter in the tribune.
