Coming up on is Okains Museum. Set in the beautiful Banks Peninsula, the museum showcases Maori Cultural and colonial history. One of the museums rare Maori artifacts is a sacred God stick dating from 1400 and a war canoe from 1867. Also visit the traditional meeting house or marae carved by John Rua. He is well known master carver and has also carved a colonial display that include cottages, a stable and saddlery that showcases early pioneer life.
