Coming up is Poplar Street. Poplar Street was once part of Christchurch’s main warehouse district but now it is known together with Ash Street as “Lichfield Lanes.” These streets are popular for their shops and restaurants. Although Poplar Street hasn’t had very many name changes, Ash Street has had other botanical names including ‘Beech’ and ‘Elm’. Take note of the four storey Mayfair building on Poplar Street, it is the biggest building on the block and is a brick and cement warehouse on the corner of Lichfield Street.
