You are now approaching Hahei Beach, named after the Maori chief “Hei.” From the lookout, there is access to Cathedral Cove and the marine reserve. The Te Pare Point historic reserve can be found at the southern end of Hahei Beach and it is the site of a pa that was occupied by the Ngati Hei tribe. Please remember that Cathedral Cove is only accessible by foot, but it is certainly well worth the walk.
