Coming up ahead is Hot Water Beach. The beach gets its name from the underground hot springs which filter up through the sand between the high and low water tides. This beach is a very popular attraction and visitors to the beach total about 130,000 every year. Within two hours before and after low tide, it is possible to dig into the sand and allow the hot water to escape to the surface. Visitors often dig large holes and relax in the thermal water.
