Coming up ahead is Te Waha O Rerekohu, the oldest and largest Puhutukawa tree in New Zealand. The tree sits on the Te Araroa School grounds and is said to be more than 600 years old. Please note that a short distance ahead you will reach an intersection that will lead you to the East Cape Lighthouse. This is also one of the last petrol stations for at least 50km’s in either direction.
