You are approaching the West Quay Precinct and the Customs House. The Customs House was built in 1904 and is now a museum housing photographic collections of towns historic buildings and boats. Along Nelsons Quay is an area known as “Iron Pot.” The name originated from the European whalers who used iron vessels to produce whale oil. West Quay is where the daily fishing fleet lines up and for those who are hungry the Port side area has a number of restaurants and cafes to choose from.
