Coming up is the Millennium Sculpture by David Trubridge called “Ecliptic.” The sculpture was made out of a steel arch and at the top of the arch are two large stainless steel dome-shaped discs. This sculpture reflects either the sun rising over the sea or the lights of Marine Parade. At night time the sculpture is lit up with a neon tube between the two discs and it is said to shine out like rising moon or a solar eclipse. Trubridge was inspired by his personal experience of navigating and sailing to New Zealand.
