Coming up is Mt Lyford Lodge and the turn-off to Mt Lyford Ski Field, a privately-owned ski field some 1,500 metres above sea level. In the summer the field offers stunning views, while the winter sees it humming with skiers and snowboarders making the most of its numerous intermediate and beginners trails. The names of some of its advanced trails – ‘Die Hard’, ‘Excellerator’, and ‘Thriller’- say it all. Snowboarders are well catered for with a terrain park offering rails, a table top, and a half pipe and because the snow is formed naturally here, there’s excellent off-piste skiing. What’s more, you can hire all the gear you need onsite.
