You are now approaching the turnoff to Leithfield Beach. The small resort town of Leithfield offers great surfing and fishing in the nearby rivers and from the beach. It is also one of the oldest towns of North Canterbury and was founded in 1857. The Kowai River walking track begins at the township and then makes its way to the mouth of the river and Leithfield Beach.
