Coming up on the left/right hand side is St James Walkway. Part of the walkway lies within the Lewis Pass National Reserve and goes through St James Station and Lake Sumner Forest Park. Prepare to be amazed by the diverse scenery, wildlife and vegetation. The walkway caters to both beginner and experienced walkers. If you’re travelling in a family group there is a shorter walk through Cannibal Gorge. The St James walkway was the first of its kind to be established in a sub-alpine area and the entire route is well marked with signposts. Altogether the walk covers a distance of 66 kilometers and takes about 5 days to complete.
