Coming up is Waiouru Army Museum and the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial. The museum houses several armoured vehicles and artillery pieces on open-air displays. The museum also includes the Kippenberger Research Library, which commemorates a notable New Zealand soldier from the Second World War, Sir Howard Kippenberger. The museum once had a number of Victoria Crosses on display but on the 2nd of December 2007, 96 of these medals were stolen from a locked, reinforced glass cabinet.
