You are now travelling past the Rai Valley Cottage. This cottage is handmade of pit-sawn totara slabs and was built in 1881. Charles and Tilly Turner lived in this colonial cottage with their four children until the early 1900’s. Their life represented a typical early pioneering family. While Tilly stayed at home, raising their children, growing vegetables and feeding the family and passers by, so Charles felled bush and worked on the roads. This cottage is open 7 days a week for your viewing and there is no entrance fee.
