You are now approaching the town of Ward. This small settlement was named after Sir Joseph George Ward, a premier of New Zealand in the early 20th century. Visit the Saltworks at Lake Grassmere and the London Hill Gardens which are both unique sights. Ward Beach has some interesting rock formations where limestone outcrops make shade for the daisies growing beneath them. Just be warned that this is not a safe swimming beach. Rather head to Marfells Beach which is found at the southern end of Lake Grassmere. If you want to enjoy a leisurely walk you can try the Cape Campbell Walkway or head to the limestone Saw Cut Gorge.
