You have now reached the Pelorus Bridge. Where this bridge crosses the Pelorus River it marks the halfway point between Blenheim and Nelson. Here you will also find a beautiful scenic reserve that has some of the best examples of native forest in the Marlborough region. Trees like matai, rimu, totara and miro are found almost everywhere as well as different types of beech. The forest undergrowth is rich with ferns, mosses and lichen. Go on an easy walk leading through the forest glades to a waterfall or visit the view point up along a 417 meter peak. Also take note of the bird life in the reserve. There are many kereru, bellbirds, tui and fantails.
