You are now approaching the Nelson Provincial Museum, coming up on the left/right. The museum is a chance for reflection on the cultural heritage and history of the Nelson region. There are two main gallery spaces which feature both permanent and changing exhibitions. Have a look through the museum shop and go for a walk on the rooftop garden. The lower gallery focuses on a journey from the top of South Island at Tasman Bay down to Golden Bay along with the people and history that have characterized the area. Have a look through Maori artifacts, toys, china and furniture from the colonial period and other items many of which have been donated by local residents.
