Coming up on the left/right is the turnoff for the Abel Tasman National Park and Harwood’s Hole. The national park, which is the smallest in New Zealand, has perfect beaches, towering granite cliffs and includes a famous coastal walking track. Other activities include kayaking and sailing and there is no shortage of comfortable accommodation. Harwood’s Hole is a cave system and is the deepest vertical passageway in New Zealand. The overall depth is 357 meters and the long rope descent is an exciting part of caving in Harwood’s Hole. You do need to be an experienced caver to do this.
