You are now approaching the Kahurangi National Park coming up on the left. The park is known for nature walks which vary in distance. The scenic Heaphy Track is a 3 to 5 day trail which moves through forest and travels along beaches. Cave systems at Kahurangi attract adventure seekers from all over the world. Some of the best caving in New Zealand is found in Mount Owen. Isolated and wild rivers in the park are a favourite with experienced kayakers but those who aren’t can join a commercial tour. For good trout fishing head to the Karamea River.
