You are now approaching the Pupu Springs and Hydro Walkway. The springs are famous around the world because of the clarity of the water and the volume of water that is discharged. It is estimated that 14,000 liters of water are produced every second; that is enough to fill 40 bathtubs. Near to the springs is the Pupu Hydro Walkway. The walkway retraces an old gold-mining water race, which has been reused for power generation. The climb towards the water race is a little steep but the section across the Waikoropupu River to the power station is suitable for anybody.
