You are now approaching the walkway to the centre of New Zealand found on Botanical Hill, coming up on the left/right. This is one of the most popular walks in New Zealand and begins at the botanical gardens or otherwise you can start from the Nelson visitor centre. The walk takes between 20 and 60 minutes. When you reach the top you can admire the views and use the information card to look for particular places in the landscape. In summertime you can make your way back down the eastern side of the hill and have a swim in the Black Hole. Just a note that the top of the walk is not in fact the centre of New Zealand but rather the point from which calculations were done to find the actual point. It was later discovered that the real centre is in the Spooners range in the Golden Downs Forest.
