You are now approaching Kerikeri. This is one of the main centers in The Bay of Islandâ€™s. Kerikeri is a small historic community thatâ€™s known for fishing and fruit farming. This was originally a mission station and a number of historical buildings are still standing in the village. Kemp House is the oldest house in New Zealand and Stone Store is the countries oldest surviving stone building. The two sites have been maintained by the local residents and look much the same as they did when they were first built. There are also some vineyards around Kerikeri that are worth visiting if youâ€™d like to do some wine tasting.
