You are now approaching the Kiwi Heritage Park and Museum. This is one of the few places in New Zealand where you will get the chance to see our national bird in its natural environment. The Kiwi’s are very elusive birds that are difficult to find during the day but at Kiwi House the enclosures are kept dark so that visitors can get a good look at them. You will also have the opportunity to visit Gecko House in the park but you’ll have to look carefully to find them because gecko’s are masters of camouflage! Guided tours are offered inside Kiwi House and if you’d like to learn a little more about the Kiwi bird and the other fascinating creatures of New Zealand you can visit the Kiwi House Museum.
