You are now approaching the scenic Mangawhai Heads. The heads have a surf beach on one side and a harbor on the other. The heads are known for surfing, fishing and beautiful bush trails. Maori people used Mangawhai Harbor as their main access point when transporting their canoes. Mangawhai Village and the Mangawhai Heads are joined by a picturesque causeway surrounded by bush and wetlands. Both these settlements have shopping centers, pubs and interesting little shops.
