You are approaching the AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park. The Kauri Trees are indigenous to New Zealand and are very highly regarded in the Maori Cultural. The park is not only home to dozens of these trees but also one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. The park is one of New Zealands natural wonders and is named after Alfred Hamish Reed. Reed was a settler who moved to New Zealand from England with his parents and eventually became one of New Zealands leading publishers.
