Coming up is the turnoff to Kai Iwi Lakes, a group of basin type dune lakes formed by rainwater that has collected in the depressions of sand. Half of the area is taken up by three main lakes, Lake Taharoa, Lake Waikere and Lake Kai Iwi, which all offer great opportunities for rainbow trout fishing and water sports like water skiing and yachting.
