Coming up is the turn-off to the Piroa Falls. This seldom-visited waterfall is six kilometres from SH1 and is reached on a gravel road travelling through the Waipu Gorge. Year-round this spectacular waterfall plummets over a high rocky ledge into a series of three large waterholes, perfect for a refreshing summer dip. The falls are a five-minute walk from the car park, and are reached on a well formed pathway.
