Coming up on your left/right is the turnoff for the Puketi and Kauri Forest and the Manginangina Scenic Forest. The Puketi Forest is an ancient kauri forest that is located in the heart of the Northland and is one of New Zealand’s most precious conservation areas. This forest, along with the Omahuta Forest, form one of the largest tracts of native forest in the New Zealand Northland. Puketi is also home to the largest living kauri, which stands with a height of 50.9 meters. At the top of the forest on a ridge, you can enter the Manginangina Scenic Reserve.
