Coming up is the turn-off for Rangikapiti Pa, built by the ancestors of the Ngatikahu people and prominently located on Mangonui Harbour’s west head. Near the top of the hill is a small carpark and 20 or so steps lead to the top of the pa site where there are sweeping views of Hihi Beach and Butler Point, the deep swathe of Mangonui Harbour, and the broad sweep of Doubtless Bay.
