You are now entering Duntroon, a small farming town that was once the terminus of the branch line railway and is now home to the Vanished World Centre. The centre is dedicated to showcasing the geology of the Waitaki region and preserving fossils that have been found here. These include those of whales, dolphins, penguins, sharks and many shellfish. Incorporated into the centre is the Vanished World Trail which introduces some key places in North Otago.
