You are almost at the Bruce Jackson Lookout which offers fantastic views of Cromwell, Lake Dunstan, and the surrounding countryside. On the opposite side of the road just a short walk south of the lookout area is the starting point of the Old Reservoir Walk, a 30 minute hike which zig-zags up the hill to the former Cromwell Reservoir. It was built in 1875 following an outbreak of typhoid fever, and offers even better views. You can choose to return the way you have come, or continue on for another hour, completing a loop back to Bruce Jackson Lookout.
