Coming up is Mavora lakes. The South Mavora Lake is one of the most picturesque and unspoilt lakes in Southland. On a bright day the fish can be seen in the water around the beautiful bush-clad bays. The lake contains high densities of aquatic insects and the surrounding bush is a habitat for indigenous animals. The North Lake Mavora is 9.5 km long and more exposed than South Mavora. North lake also has beautiful beach-like shores and the lake is deeper deep water. The lake is also home to a large variety of fish species.
