Coming up is the site of the old Ohakea RNZAF Base Air Force Museum. The museum was first established as a small base in 1976 when a warrant officer began collecting items of historical interest from around the base. By 1977 the collection had outgrown the original building and was moved into the newly furbished mess hall. Unfortunately the museum was closed in May 2007 despite the outcry from local residents and historians.
