Coming up is the turnoff to Te Apiti Wind Farm. This is the first wind farm in New Zealand to supply electricity to the national grid and to use megawatt class machines. You’ll recognize the wind farm by 55 giant, white wind turbines. The turbines have been here since 2000 and are not only functional but fascinating to watch.
