Coming up a bridge crosses the Mokau Stream and offers a precarious view of the 37 metre high Mokau Falls, best seen from a viewpoint some 300 metres further on, where the smaller Tauwhare Falls pass beneath the road to plummet down rocks for 45 metres. Beneath, at the mouth of the riverbed is a DOC campsite, nestled between the bush and lake shore. The campsite offers excellent views of the vast cliffs of Lake Waikaremoana’s dramatic Panekiri Bluff.
