Coming up is Te Puia Village. Here visitors will find Whakarewarewa, Rotorua’s cultural centre and thermal reserve. The thermal reserve is not only a natural wonder but part of life here. A path leads visitors to the reserve and winter is the best time to see the boiling mud. The Whakarewarewa Cultural Center also showcases Maori Cultural by demonstrating carving, weaving and much more. Please note that the village at the lower end of the valley now implements a separate entrance fee and there is no access to the thermal reserve from there. To access the thermal reserve visitors must enter through the Maori Institute gate.
