You are now approaching Redwoods Forest & Visitor Centre. This area is also known as “Whakarewarewa Forest” and is popular with runners, walkers and mountain bikers. Visitors can access the forest from a number of different points but the main entrance is located at the visitors centre. Note that the Waipa mill entrance is used mainly by mountain bikers and the Redwoods car park is for all visitors. There are a number of trails within the “Tokorangi Triangle” – an area within the forest that covers 288 hectares of the landscape. Also note that all of the roads within the forest are gravel or dirt roads and vehicles should stay on the demarcated roads at all times.
