Coming up is the turn-off to the relaxed seaside settlement of Colac Bay, where surfers hit the waves against the backdrop of Stewart Island. If you’re feeling peckish head to The Pavilion on the beachfront, for its menu features plenty of local fare. There’s Colac Bay Paua and Beef Burgers, fresh Stewart Island salmon, seafood chowder, and that good old Southland stable, blue cod and chips.
