You are now approaching the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery coming up on the left/right hand side. The gallery is known for a collection of contemporary visual artworks. The works belong to both emerging artists from New Zealand and the Pacific Rim and those who have already established a career for themselves. In the permanent collection you will find sculpture, conceptual art and abstract art from the 1970s and the 1980s. Among the highlights of the gallery are works by Ralph Hotere, Shane Cotton and Jacqueline Fraser. Admission is free but any donations are appreciated. During the summer opening hours are from 10am to 5pm daily.
