Coming up on the left/right is the turnoff for Dawson Falls and the Egmont National Park. The park has its own visitor centre which provides info to help you maximize your visit. The highlights of the park include Mount Egmont, which has been called the most climbed mountain in New Zealand. The climb to the top takes about 5 hours and the summit is covered in snow. Then there’s Wilkies Pools and the Goblin Forest. The shape of the trees and the thick moss in the forest give it a surreal quality. From here it’s about another 8 kilometers to get to the Dawson Falls if you continue along Manaia Road.
