You are now approaching the turnoff for Oakura Beach coming up on the left/right hand side. After the turnoff it’s about 800 meters to the beach. This is one of the most popular beaches in Taranaki with plenty to see and do in the area. Enjoy a bit of shopping and then relax and have a delicious meal at one of the nearby restaurants. Seafood is definitely a local favourite. The beach offers great sea views, safe swimming and surfing and nature walks in the area. Try the walk from Oakura to Ahu Ahu beach. You’ll discover many surf breaks along the way. Visitors can also look forward to good fishing and the kids will love the warm sand pools.
