Coming up is the Tasman Glacier and Blue Lakes. The Glacier is only a 15 minute walk from the car park and the impressive Blue Lakes are 10 a ten minute walk away. The glacier is the largest ice river on the entire south island and is 27 kilometers long and over 3 kilometers wide. It has been here for 2 million years since the ice age. From this point visitors can also walk to the historic Old Bat Hut.
