Coming up on your left/right is the Waikato Cathedral Church of Saint Peter. The cathedral is Hamilton’s premium Heritage Site and the hill on which it is built is called Pukerangiora in Maori. The hill was an important site in Maori tradition before the arrival of European settlers. During the early days of the settlers, the hill was a British Army Fort. The cathedral was built in 1916 and it is the third church to be built on this site, although the two previous churches were built at the base of the hill.
