Coming up is Waikato Coal Fields Museum. This two-storey building displays the town’s mining history. Visitors can visit a coal tunnel, discover mining techniques and the impact of mining on the environment. There are also rooms that depict a typical miner’s cottage and for a number of the locals, the museum preserves their personal heritage after decades of working on the mines.
