Coming up is the fishing village of Ngawi sheltered beneath the base of the towering Aorangi Range. The rows of rusty, old, brightly-painted bulldozers you will see parked on the beach are used for hauling sturdy fishing boats ashore. NZ fur seals make their home here and if you stop en route it’s likely you’ll see one lazing on the rocks. For your own safety and to conserve native wildlife remember to observe the 10-metre rule, which means ensuring that there is always at least 10-metres between them and you.
